Multi-Specialty Health Clinic

Northeastern Tribal Health System – Miami, OK

Funded by grants from five different Native American tribes located in and around the Miami/Quapaw area in northeastern Oklahoma, this unique multi-tribal clinic expands much needed outpatient health care to a chronically under-served rural population. Replacing an outdated and overcrowded facility, the new 50,000 square foot building is organized around a central spine or “Long House” that serves as a gathering place and waiting room for patients and their families. Used as an organizing feature and displaying Tribal art and artifacts, the Long House extends the length of the building and provides direct access into each individual department to maximize patient comfort and minimize confusion.
