Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges

Created specifically for individuals with disabilities, the CENTER is a 35,000 square foot state-of-the-art accessible facility. Organized around a centralized “Main Street” corridor, the building houses a variety of accessible spaces designed for physical strength training and rehabilitation, team sports, art therapy, cooking skills, and gardening. Main Street, as the name suggests, is the nexus of all activity, and provides a mix of places to congregate, exercise, and, through modified “storefronts,” allows passers-by to see into the various activity spaces that occur along its length. As an organizing tool, it allows staff to monitor all building entrances and unobtrusively observe the activities of members.
