WHO WE ARE
You become an architect thinking you can help make the world a better place.
Pessimists don’t become architects.
Architects are optimists.
We are optimists - creating buildings since 1984 that improve the built environment we all share. We have a staff of nine that includes architects, interior designers and support staff. Our engineering consultants include structural, mechanical, electrical, civil and specialty consultants. Our experience covers a wide range of project sizes and project types - including new construction, interior renovation, historic rehabilitation/renovation and building expansions.
Whit Todd, AIA
Whit believes collaborative processes are essential to creating projects that best realize the client’s goals and objectives. Whit understands that a well-designed project is the result of engaging the client in exploring multiple options to identify the solution that best meets the client’s goals as they relate to form, function and budget. Whit has practiced architecture for over three decades throughout the United States including Boston, the Gulf Coast and Tulsa. Whit, a Tulsa native, graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Master of Architecture in 1985.
Ted Baily, AIA
Ted lives where the “art” of architecture meets the “business” of construction. Construction cost estimating, project scheduling, and the development of technical specifications are all part of Ted’s typical project involvement. As a life-long Oklahoman, Ted earned a degree in Architecture from Oklahoma State University and worked with other local architectural firms for 11 years before co-founding Fritz Baily in 1984. He fulfills a variety of project related roles including principal-in-charge, project manager, and project architect.
Associate / Project Manager
With a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Oklahoma, Richard came to us in 1995 with five years of experience at other design firms. A talented Project Manager, Richard is recognized for his ability to manage highly technical and complex projects. Depending on the project, Richard may also serve as a Project Manager, Project Designer, or Technical Manager.
Lisa Patterson, LEED AP
Associate / Director of Interior Design
With an Interior Design degree from the University of Arkansas, Lisa joined us in 1991 and quickly became an expert in facility programming, interior design, accessibility design, and interior space planning. Her diverse experience includes the design for a wide variety of office, municipal, medical, and museum projects across the state. She’s won awards for her work in accessibility and interior design and occasionally speaks to outside groups on making buildings universally accessible.
Herb Fritz, AIA
Founding Principal - Fritz Baily Architects
Herb had a love of architecture. He realized buildings are more than just bricks and mortar, but works of art for people to enjoy. This is how he guided the firm’s design process throughout the company’s first 30 years.
Herb was a highly respected architect, co-founder of Tulsa Foundation for Architecture, and its first president. Herb’s impassioned work in historic preservation — serving on the Tulsa Preservation Commission as well as the board of Preservation Oklahoma for many years — earned him an award from Preservation Oklahoma in 2008. Among his numerous projects are the extensively updated Tulsa International Airport, expansion of the Tulsa Historical Society, the Family & Children’s Services headquarters, numerous fire stations for the Tulsa Fire Department, and the historic restorations of Tulsa’s Will Rogers High School and Fire Alarm Building.
